A. Cecilia 'Morie' Sullivan, Fargo

A. Cecilia "Morie" Sullivan passed away peacefully at Riverview Place in Fargo, ND, on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Sullivan; her parents; five brothers; and a sister, Kathleen, who died in 1991.

Morie is survived by her children, Peg Freel, Palatine, IL, Sharon Tadsen (Roger), Apple Valley, MN, Pat Russell (Jack), Spokane, WA, Mary Ann Sullivan, Savannah, GA, and son, Terry, Amenia, ND; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Morie Sullivan was born April 7, 1909, to Edward and Nellie Moriarty in Bordulac, ND, the youngest of seven children. After graduation from high school in 1926, she attended Moorhead (MN) State College for two years and Valley City (ND) State College for one summer. Morie taught school in Selfridge, ND, for one year before moving to Aitkin, MN, where she taught 5th grade until she married Joseph M. Sullivan of Aitkin on June 15, 1937. Joe was a John Deere representative and they resided in Montevideo, MN, before moving to Casselton, ND, where they lived for over 50 years. Morie was very involved in the community and an active member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. She was also an avid bridge player. When her children had all left home, she resumed teaching 4th grade at Holy Spirit in Fargo. After Joe died in January 1985, Morie lived alone in Casselton until she moved to Riverview Place in Fargo in February 1996.

Memorials are preferred to the Casselton Ambulance or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, Nov. 29, from 4-7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, at Riverview Place, 5300 12th St. S., Fargo. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at 11 AM in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Casselton. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery.
