Harvey C. Haugen, 78, 10796 East Lake Ida, Pelican Rapids, MN, died on November 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Health Care Center in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Harvey was born on July 7, 1923, in Hallock, MN. He grew up at Lake Bronson, MN. He served in the Pacific Theatre of WWII, in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he worked as a carpenter and cabinetmaker in Lake Bronson, MN. He married Shirley Doty on August 10, 1953, and they made their home in Grand Forks, ND. Harvey retired in 1975. They moved to Lake Ida, near Cormorant, MN, in 1976, where they owned and operated Haugen's Campground until 1981, when they sold it. Shirley died on January 27, 1990.

Harvey is survived by one daughter, Pat (Gordon) Jackson, Juno, AK; three step daughters, Geraldine (Tony) Walz, West Fargo, ND, Karin Reese, Eagle River, AK, and Virginia (Ben) Bjerken, Thief River Falls, MN; one brother, Cordell "Keith" (Carmen) Haugen, Honolulu, Hawaii; seventeen grandchildren and thirty five great-grandchildren; special friends, Tony and Bernice Wickenheiser, Lake Ida, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Lorraine, and two brothers, Merlyn and James.

Funeral: Saturday, December 1, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in Vigen-Wright Funeral Home, Lake Park, MN.

Visitation: Friday, November 30, 2001, from 5-7 p.m. in Vigen-Wright Funeral Home, Lake Park, MN.

Interment: Riverside Memorial Park, Mahnomen, MN.
