Toni Stone was a pioneer for both women and African-Americans in baseball, the St. Paul native broke many barriers and her drive, perseverance and determination transformed her from a Minnesota “tomboy” to the first female to play in the Negro League, sponsored by Lake Agassiz Regional Libraries in Minnesota (all school events open to the public): Wednesday March 6, 10 a.m., Mahnomen High School; 2 p.m., McIntosh Library; 7 p.m., Fertile Library
