IMO if someone enters my home and they don't leave when asked to then I have a right to defend myself in MY OWN home- like it or not that is the real world and it is what it is...

Of course they're not going to release the toxicology reports early on a free website update. They want us all to go kill some trees by buying a paper tomorrow. This along with all other news sites is simply turning into a marketing medium where they try to sell stuff not just through the ads, but through the articles themselves.

Not charging the man with a crime is the right result, but there are no winners here, only losers. I own guns and would use a gun to protect my life or the life of my family, but the last thing I would want to do is have to shoot someone. I can almost guarantee Mr. Allen will suffer terribly for what happened, for the rest of his life. Even men who have killed in combat live with guilt for taking life. It is a horrible situation.

It seems that knowone stops to think that LaFromboise could very well have when he grabbed the shotgun given the fire arm a jerk causing the gun to be pulled against the finger and tripping the trigger. Very possible that the man involved had no intention fo firing that gun but was using it to threaten the intruder. Intruder grabbed gun and tried to pull it away, jerked trigger against trigger finger BOOM - could very easily have happened.

"Someone provided this minor alcohol..thats the person who should be charged with this crime!" I agree, the person(s) whom supplied the alcohol is the one who should be charged with manslaughter or some like charge.

It may have made more of an impact on the community if Mr. Allen had just beaten the kid down and videotaped it. Then, called the police and had him thrown in jail. And then uploaded the video to YouTube!

The reality of this is that no one wins or is going to be overjoyed. There was a life that was lost and the individual chose to do so for whatever reason he did. I am sure that if an individual came into your house uninvited you too would be frightened and fear for your life. The other thing to look at in this case is that he shot him point blank in the chest and not at a distance in the back so therefore we show that the individual was facing the homeowner and was close and this shows that there was a good case for fearing for ones life. This is a horrible outcome and I don't mean the sentence I mean all of the conditions surrounding it and to see someone fall at the hands of a firearm you pulled the trigger on. The victim or the homeowner has to live with that for the rest of his life and bottom line the young man was not in a place where he was welcome to be and unfortunately suffered his sentence. RIP young man and peace to the individual who has to live with the horrible reality he took a life and I think he WILL suffer for the rest of his life.

While it is very tragic what happened, his family has done nothing but portray him as a victim. Whatever happened to accepting personal responsibility? Based on the family's (re)actions, they are the ones to blame for giving this young man a much less-than-upstanding upbringing. Who let's their intoxicated 17 year old wander around Romkey Park at midnight? Let this serve as a lesson to all the wanna-be bangers out there. Just because you live in Fargo-Moorhead doesn't mean that people are punks and will let you run over them. We have guns, too!

I have never heard such cowardly, idiotic comments in my life.
