In 1944, Irv entered the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. After returning from service, Irv married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Possehl) Williams in 1948. The couple eventually settled in Moorhead in 1954.

Irvin Leonard Williams, 88, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. He was born September 26, 1924, in Norwegian Grove, Pelican Rapids, MN. Irv graduated from Barnesville (MN) High School in 1943.In 1944, Irv entered the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre of World War II.
