He was born on July 14th, 1931 to Edward and Clara Messerschmidt in Glyndon Minnesota. Following his schooling in Glyndon he began active duty with the Marines in 1952 and was discharged in 1954 but continued in the Marine Reserves until 1960.

Roy H. Messerschmidt, age 81, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on January 2, 2013, at Sanford's Palliative Care Unit in Fargo. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.He was born on July 14th, 1931 to Edward and Clara Messerschmidt in Glyndon Minnesota. Following his schooling in Glyndon he began active duty with the Marines in 1952 and was discharged in 1954 but continued in the Marine Reserves until 1960.
