Marcella Dorothy Ward

Passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Inver Glen Senior Living. Marcella Dorothy Tuma was born November 8, 1918 to James and Antonia (Kolar) Tuma, in St. Paul, MN. She attended St. Stanislaw’s Grade School and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. After high school she worked as a domestic helper. Marcella married Lake L. Ward on December 2, 1943 and resided on the West Side of St. Paul, where they raised four children. Marcella volunteered at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Gift Shop and spent eleven years working at Van Arsdells (later Herbergers) in Signal Hills. After Lake retired they moved to Lakeville. Lake passed away in 1995 and Marcella moved to Inver Grove Heights. She volunteered many hours at DARTS. In 2010 she entered the Inver Glen Senior Living. Marcella was a long time member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, crochet and attend family gatherings. Marcella is survived by her children, Patricia (Steve) Jungbauer, Estes Park, CO; Robert (Lillian) Ward, Inver Grove Heights, Kathleen (Joseph) Loney, West Fargo, ND, Paul (Debbie) Ward, Inver Grove Heights; sister-in-law, Jeanette Padget, in Arizona. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday at the Church of St. Joseph, 1154 Seminole Ave. West St. Paul. Visitation 8:30-10 AM prior to Mass. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Alzheimer Association.
