Ardis was born January 5, 1930, in Section 3 of Flom Township, Norman County, to Oscar and Rocelia (Lien) Stene. She received her elementary education at Plentywood country school, in District 12, 4 miles north of Flom, MN and graduated from Twin Valley High School. Ardis attended Fargo Business College after which she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Myhra Equipment Company in Fargo, ND until she got married.

Ardis Sylvia Mahlum, 83, of Fertile, MN, and, wintering in Mesa, AZ, died at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, January 19, 2013.Ardis was born January 5, 1930, in Section 3 of Flom Township, Norman County, to Oscar and Rocelia (Lien) Stene.
