On June 3, 1943, he married Lorraine Schneider in Herreid, SD. Andy continued to farm until he enlisted in the US Army on May 4, 1945. He was discharged on December 22, 1946 and they made their home in Java, SD (Campbell County) where he continued farming.

Andrew Wiedmeier was born on October 19, 1923 in Artas, SD (Campbell County), the son of Christ and Paulina (Stadel) Wiedmeier. He attended school in Mound City, SD and then began farming.On June 3, 1943, he married Lorraine Schneider in Herreid, SD. Andy continued to farm until he enlisted in the US Army on May 4, 1945. He was discharged on December 22, 1946 and they made their home in Java, SD (Campbell County) where he continued farming.
