Mildred BjerkeGladys Mildred Warwick was born October 30, 1918, near Del Rapids, SD, to Ole and Johanna (Brende) Warwick. She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade.
Mildred married Clifford Vernon Bjerke on June 1, 1937, in the Crocker (SD) Lutheran Church parsonage, and they made their home in Milton, WI. They also lived in Janesville, WI, before moving back to South Dakota. They had five children: Joan, Phyllis, Alice, Philip and Daniel. Mildred and Clifford worked for Charley Blackman until they purchased their own farm in 1949, in Clark County, SD, where they made their home. They attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church for many years. Mildred taught Sunday school and was also active in the Ladies Aid.
