Timeline of events surrounding marshal murders

• Feb. 13, 1983: Two federal marshals are shot to death while attempting to serve Gordon Kahl, convicted of tax evasion, with a probation violation warrant as he leaves a Posse Comitatus meeting near Medina, N.D., about 30 miles west of Jamestown. Two other law enforcement agents are wounded, along with Kahl’s son, Yorie Kahl. Gordon Kahl escapes.
