Myrtle Irene VerduinMyrtle Irene Carlson was born October 28, 1914 on the family farm of Frank and Sophie (Sorby) Carlson, Hastings, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Myrtle attended and was a graduate of Hastings High School. As a young lady, she moved to Fargo, ND where she did housekeeping, prepared meals and nannied. She also worked at the County Hospital. Later, she moved to Sioux City, IA, continuing to work in housekeeping.
On November 16, 1942, she married Harold J. TenPas. They farmed in the Litchville area until his death in 1963. She continued living on the farm.
