Newton Howard WagnerNewton Howard Wagner, better known as Newt, was born on a farm by the James River Bridge on the LaMoure County line, to Ted and Mildred (Cox) Wagner on August 11th, 1929. When he was six years old his family moved to one of the Glover farms and in 1943 they moved again to a farm in the southeast corner of Wright Township. He was the second oldest of nine siblings and lived at this farm the rest of his farming days.
He attended School No. 2 of James River Valley School District in Dickey County. For two years in a row he was awarded a certificate for being "neither absent nor tardy". Newt attended confirmation and was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, in the valley.
