Shirley Mae OsmundsonShirley Mae (Osmundson) Smith, 84, of Cloverdale, California, formerly of San Jose, California passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Emeritus of Santa Rosa. She was born to Irving A. and Alma (Tipper) Osmundson on July 19, 1929 in Grand Forks, North Dakota and grew up in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.
She attended school in East Grand Forks and graduated from East Grand Forks High School in 1947. In High School she was a cheerleader, sang in a sextet and triple-trio, and played the upright bass. In her senior yearbook she was voted “The Girl with the Prettiest Eyes” (a beautiful way to remember her). Shirley attended Grinnell College in Iowa her freshman year and transferred to the University of North Dakota the beginning of her sophomore year. During summer breaks she worked as a cabin maid at Yellowstone National Park. She graduated with a degree in Marketing & Merchandising. She utilized her degree working at Donaldson’s Department Store.
