Sarah Dixon

Sarah Eaton Dixon, age 95, was born in Fargo, ND to Louis and Laura Eaton on September 28, 1918. She died at Bethany on November 8, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leonard, Louis, James, and her husband, John.

She was a lifetime resident of Fargo, ND, graduating from Fargo Central High School and attending North Dakota State University. She met her future husband, John Francis Dixon, on a blind date and married him on January 13, 1940. Sarah spent her summers, both as a child and an adult, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She excelled at everything she ever tried, and lived by the motto, "If there is a will, there's a way." She was an avid sportswoman from hunting and fishing to tennis, golf, and water aerobics. She could fillet a sunny like nobody's business. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, and enjoyed gardening. She excelled at decoupage and shared her talents through teaching this art form. She was an active alumna of Kappa Kappa Gamma and a member of Junior League and the First United Methodist Church. She was a devoted member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for 62 years, and served as the first president of Chapter AU. She was a great cook and hostess, and loved to entertain. She traveled extensively, covering South America, Europe, the US and Canada. She enjoyed attending the many cultural events offered in the FM area. Despite suffering a stroke in 2001, Sarah continued to live independently until her 95th birthday. A lifelong bridge player, even after her stroke she continued to play bridge multiple days a week into her 90s. She got a kick out of every $3 win.
