Railroad bridge

A section of the timber trestle railroad bridge is hoisted away this week as the BNSF Railway replaces the timbers with steel pilings and prestressed concrete spans between the Main Avenue and Center/NP Avenue bridges between Fargo and Moorhead. The work is being done in four phases and will upgrade the bridge on both sides of the Red River. Work will continue nonstop until the replacement is complete, which is estimated to be Sunday. The bridge has two sets of tracks. One of them will still carry rail traffic during the work. Dave Wallis / The Forum
