Portraits: Tyler Lane

Minnesota State University Moorhead student Tyler Lane lights a balloon filled with hydrogen to the delight of the crowd attending the recent MSUM Society of Physics Students demonstration at the Hansen Theatre in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. It’s all about making science fun for the physics students, said Lane, who is a sophomore majoring in physics and electrical engineering. “As a kid, I have always loved figuring out how things worked; it never gets boring, and there is always something new to learn that I have never thought about,” said Lane. Sharing his knowledge with younger students is just as fun for him as conduction experiments. “It’s a ball. I have actually considered being a teacher in my post-job career just to get kids excited about science and math and the cool things that we do. Learning how the world works was my dream since third grade.” Lane is deaming big, one experiment at a time. David Samson / The Forum
