Chelsey Matter reviews paperwork

Chelsey Matter, a West Fargo respiratory therapist who is chairwoman of a North Dakota initiative campaign to ban smoking in public workplaces, reviews paperwork in North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger’s office on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, shortly after she and other supporters turned in petitions that request a statewide vote on the initiative. Matter said the petitions had more than 20,000 signatures, well above the minimum of 13,452 needed to qualify for the ballot. Jaeger has about a month to review the petitions and decide whether they are sufficient. If they are, the anti-tobacco initiative will be listed as Measure 3 on the November general election ballot.
