Marlys "Meyer" Skjefte

The funeral for Marlys “Meyer” Skjefte, of Oakes, ND, will be Friday, September 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday starting at 2:00 p.m. up until the time of the service. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery near LaMoure.

The funeral for Marlys “Meyer” Skjefte, of Oakes, ND, will be Friday, September 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday starting at 2:00 p.m. up until the time of the service. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery near LaMoure.

Marlys Mae Meyer, daughter of Henry and Mabel (Lau) Meyer was born May 31, 1935 near LaMoure, North Dakota. She attended school at Grand Rapids and LaMoure, graduating from LaMoure High School with the class of 1954. She was united in marriage to Francis “Fritz” Weber on May 9, 1956 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMoure. Marlys lived in the surrounding area her entire life. Marlys did many jobs throughout her life, but will be most remembered for her bartending. She liked to watch football and especially baseball. She also enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking, and tinkering on cars.

She died Monday, September 22, 2008, in her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by six children, Pamela (Owen) McGregor, Brampton, ND, David Weber, Thomas Weber, and Barry (LaVonne) Tanner, all of Oakes, ND, Brian (Tracy) Tanner, Arlington, TX, and Amy (John) Kelly, Oakes, ND; a brother, Don Meyer, LaMoure, ND; twenty-one grandchildren, Kristi (Jason), Robert “BJ”, Matthew, Anna, Cheryl, Jenna, Johnna, Kylie, Jeffrey, Kelly (Victoria), KaCee, Katelynn, Scott, Andrew, Hope, Travis, Rebecca, John Jr., Mariah, Tylor, and Sean; and six great-grandchildren. Marlys is also survived by close special friends, Michelle, Bonnie, Angie and Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Francis “Fritz” Weber, and three siblings, Ruth, Gloria, and Curt.

Marlys’ family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
