Milton Thorstad, 84, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Milton Thorstad, 84, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Milton Sylvester Thorstad was born September 29, 1924, in Hatton, ND, to Melvin and Selma (Foss) Thorstad. He graduated from Clifford, North Dakota Public High School.
He was in the U.S. Army-Artillery Division in WWII.
Milton married Ila Mae Christensen on November 29, 1947, in Fargo, ND.
He was employed at the Beautician Supply Company of Minneapolis for more than twenty years. He retired in 1980.
Milton was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead. He was a lifetime member of VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Ila Mae, Moorhead, MN; daughter, LaVaye (Patrick) Samek, Moorhead, MN; brothers, Lloyd (Stella) Thorstad, Fargo, ND; Wendall (Corrine) Thorstad, Fargo, ND; sister, Avis Koenig, Zombrota, MN; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Irvin; and sister, Janice.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
