Eldeane Lucille Kylstad was born to Inga and Oscar Melvin Kylstad on October 10, 1924 in Englevale, North Dakota. She lived with her parents, four brothers and four sisters on the family farm. She graduated from Verona High School in 1942 and was an All County girls basketball player. The summer after her graduation, she married the love of her life, Harold Johnson. Together they raised eight children on the Johnson farm three miles west of Lisbon, North Dakota.

Eldeane was active in Trinity Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher, Circle member, choir member, instructor of the Bethel Bible Series and as the Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years. She continued to make baptismal towels for the newest members of Trinity Lutheran right up to the time of her passing. Eldeane was active in the Mother's Club, Friends Club and sold Avon and Watkins. She was a terrific cook and made the best scalloped potatoes and ham ever!

Eldeane worked as a cook at the Bissel Golf Course for several years. After raising her children, she went back to school and obtained her Associates Degree in Administrative Assistant at Valley City State University. She worked for the ASC office as an administrative assistant. Shortly after Harold passed away, Eldeane partnered with Shirley Walock and started Walock- Johnson Insurance in Lisbon in 1981. She retired from the company in 1999.

She had the opportunity to travel later in life and enjoyed her travels to Canada, New England, California and Florida.

Eldeane loved to visit with people. She enjoyed going uptown for coffee and a roll and she always had a crossword puzzle she was working on.

Eldeane is survived by her eight children: Linda (David) Janke - Jamestown, ND; Patty (Richard) Wolters - Roseville, MN; Mary (Ron) Bulthuis - Rice, MN; John Johnson - Lisbon; Bruce (Jan) Johnson - Des Plains, IL; Steven (Linda) Johnson - Lisbon; Kate Johnson - Marquette, MI; Walt (Melissa) Johnson - Lisbon. Eldeane had 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Wally (Betty) Kylstad - Lisbon; Joyce (Sandy) Kuznetz - Kent, WA; Judy (Lawrence) Ruud - Seattle, WA. She will be missed by many other friends and relatives that she cherished.

Please consider memorials for Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School or Parkside Nursing Home.

To the Johnson Family, My sympathy to all of you. I just have to smile when I think of your mom....growing up at Trinity Lutheran with all the activities, she was usually around keeping us busy. After I left Lisbon and would get back, it was always fun to visit with Eldeane...we both like to talk a bunch, so never hard to have a good conversation. Take care of each other, share great MOM stories and keep her memory alive in all of you. God Bless. Pam (Carter) Soholt, Mayville, ND
