The funeral for Barbara Gross, 89, Napoleon, ND will be Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 2:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at St. Philip Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND. Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Napoleon, ND entrusted with arrangements.
Barbara Kambeitz, daughter of Paul and Anna Mary (Becker) Kambeitz was born January 2, 1920 at Napoleon, ND. She grew up and attended school in the Napoleon area. Barbara married Leo Gross October 8, 1940 at St. Anthony Catholic Church rural Napoleon. They lived on the family farm until their retirement in 1974 when they moved into Napoleon. Barbara was a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters, Germans from Russia organization and the Napoleon Golden Age Club. In the past, Barbara had also donated many volunteer hours at the Napoleon Care Center, where she recently became a resident in March of 2009. She was very well known in the community for her love of baking, especially kuchen and rahm noodla. Most of her baking was shared with friends and family.
Barbara died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. She was 89 years old.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Leo of 68 years, Napoleon, ND; children, Mary Beth (Bert) Schumacher, Napoleon, ND; Bob (Judy) Gross, Alexandria, VA; Frank (LaVonne) Gross, Dilworth, MN; JoAnn (Ron) York, Eagan, MN and Rita (Steve) Ritter, Bismarck, ND; 13 grandchildren, Ron (Annette) Schumacher, Tom (Kari) Schumacher, Bruce (Kristie) Schumacher, DeAnn (Paul) Hilz, Jenny (Greg) Sautter, Kevin Gross, Julie (James) Nash, Jason (Angie) Gross, Chris York, Eric York, Michael York, Brian (Kim) Ritter and Scott Ritter; as well as 14 great-grandchildren, Chad, Courtney, Steven, Zane, Pierce, Kiah and Cade Schumacher, Heidi and Troy Hilz, Tyler and Ian Nash, Lydia and Gail Gross and Helen Sautter. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Gerald, parents, Paul and Anna Mary Kambeitz, five brothers and four sisters, George, Andrew, Wendell, John, infant Paul, Theresia, Mary, Margaret and Magdalen.
