Theodore Frank Weyland, 83, of Fargo, ND, passed away on June 25, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
Theodore Frank Weyland, 83, of Fargo, ND, passed away on June 25, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
Ted was born on June 20, 1926 at St. John’s Hospital, Fargo, ND, the son of Herman and Elsie (Kluck) Weyland.
He grew up and received his education at Fargo Public Schools. Ted was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Fargo. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 2, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and Elks.
Ted served honorably in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 on the LST 581, and Naval Technician Mission to Japan in the South Pacific.
On December 1, 1947, he married Margaret (Margie) Torgerson of Aneta, ND. Ted shared his life with his wife, Margie, and five children; Pamela Jones, Portland, OR; Grant (Marsha) Weyland, Moorhead, MN; Greg (Michelle) Weyland, Minden, NV; Cynthia (Akwasi) Sarfo-Kantanka, Portland, OR; and Jeffrey Weyland, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; Sara (James) Ford, Prior Lake, MN; Blake Weyland, San Diego, CA; Desirae Weyland, Markleeville, CA; Natalie Jones, Studio City, CA; Akos and Kofi Sarfo-Kantanka, Portland, OR; Mary and Wyatt Weyland, Minden, NV; and two great-grandchildren; Sidney and Ashlee Ford, Prior Lake, MN.
Ted owned and operated Ingbergs Upholstery, Refinishing and restoration with his two partners, Frank Suppa and Norman Johnson. After retiring, he worked as a golf ranger at Prairiewood Golf Course in Fargo.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren through the years.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wallace; sisters, Carol, Betty and Dorothy. He is survived by his brother, Herman (Zita) Weyland, Morgan Hill, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11am at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: Monday, June 29, 2009 from 5-7pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
