Mildred Miller-Thompson, age 80, resident of Fargo, ND, formerly Devils Lake, ND passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Mildred was born in Latona Township near Adams, ND on November 11, 1928. She was the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Mottle) Vitek. She attended school in Latona Township located in the Adams, ND area. After completing school Mildred met the love of her life and married Ervin Miller of Lawton, ND on June 12, 1945. They farmed in the Lawton area and raised livestock and small grains for several years. They raised four children on this farm and enjoyed the rural lifestyle. Mildred married Elmer Thompson on November 25, 1984 at Devils Lake, ND. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino at Devils Lake and preparing and cooking all types of Bohemian food, especially baking kolaches, rolls, and bread. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed good food. Mildred was especially fond of old time music and enjoyed going to dances and listening to accordion and concertina music. She also enjoyed spending time with her family as often as possible. Her family looked forward to spending the holidays at her home. Mildred spent the last years of her life at Bethany Homes in Fargo. She was a wonderful and kind person that will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters Michelle (Lynndell) Haugen of Davenport, ND and Sandra (Ray) Schuh of Lakota, ND and her two sons Earl (Judy) Miller of Lawton, ND and Michael (Cheryl) Miller of Grafton, ND; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; her brother Joseph Vitek along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Mildred’s Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota, ND. Interment will be at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery, Lomice, rural Lawton, ND.
