William J. Murray “Bill”, 88, formerly of Bismarck, died January 18, 2010, in Dubuque, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, January 29, 2010, at Church of Corpus Christi, 1919 North 2nd Street, Bismarck, with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary will begin at 6:00 pm.

William J. Murray (Bill) was born on March 14th, 1921 in Elma, IA, the son of William and Bridget (Sullivan) Murray. He was the youngest child when his family moved to Billings, Montana for one year. His family moved to Casselton North Dakota for a short time before settling in Fargo North Dakota. Bill attended primary school at St. Mary’s parochial school in Fargo North Dakota. He attended high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo North Dakota in 1938. He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee for one semester. He began working at Burroughs Corporation until the start of World War II where he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in Nov 1942. He served in the 487th Bomb Group, 836th Bomb Squadron in England, flying 25 missions over Europe, reaching the rank of Tech Sergeant. He returned to Burroughs Corporation in Bismarck North Dakota. He married Betty Ann Manley in 1946 in Bismarck, ND. She died in 1975. William married Adeline “Heidi” Roth Cinder on March 19th, 1977, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bismarck. They lived in Bismarck for 33 years until moving to Dubuque, IA, in May 2009. Heidi and Bill were charter members of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He served in many church functions as a member of Corpus Christi, serving as volunteer instructor. His past times included square dancing, playing chess, and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline “Heidi” Murray; his stepson, Donald Cinder, Dubuque, IA; his stepdaughter, Beth Isaak (Fred) Dubuque, IA; his grandchildren, Natascha Stocker (Ryan) Vancouver, WA, James Isaak (Sonya) Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Taryn Stocker, Maya Stocker, and Cameron J. Isaak; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers; Don Murray and Damian Murray “Jim”; his sisters, Geraldine Murray, Margaret Murray; and Genevieve Murray; and his parents.
