Albert James Klepetka, age 72, of Hankinson, ND passed away on June 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his family under the care of Riveredge Hospice after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer.

Albert James Klepetka, age 72, of Hankinson, ND passed away on June 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his family under the care of Riveredge Hospice after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer.
Albert was born in rural Lidgerwood, ND on 12-29-1938 to Frank and Mary (Jirak) Klepetka. He was baptized and confirmed on May 16, 1966 at Holy Cross Lutheran church, Lidgerwood, ND by Rev. Marvin D. Otto. Albert received his elementary education at Liberty Grove School #3 and graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1957. He served in the Army from 1961 to 1963. On May 1, 1965 Albert married Diane Prochnow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson ND. Together they raised their daughters, Sandy and Karen.
Albert worked for Mahrer Construction from 1969 to 1972. He then worked for Gutzmer Construction and Lake Sand and Gravel from 1973 to 2005. For the past 4 ½ years Albert worked part time for the City of Hankinson as the dump ground attendant. Albert enjoyed gardening, attending his grandkids’ sporting events and watching TV, especially out on the patio. Albert did volunteer work for others in the community, delivered senior meals and drove the VA van.
Albert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the stewardship board and the cemetery board. He was a life member of American Legion Post 88, and also a member of the Hankinson Senior Citizens.
Albert is survived by his wife Diane, daughters Sandy (Del) Fossum and their children, Jessica and her significant other Kelly Krump, Jeremy and Jennifer Riemann of Hankinson, Kari (Dan) Blazek, of Omaha, NE, and Kendell Fossum, Sioux Falls, SD; Karen (Brian) Zink and their children Zachary, Alexander, Kristina, and Kaitlyn of Andover, MN. Sisters Alma Orth of Lidgerwood, ND; Alice (Treadwell ) Haugen of Wyndmere, ND; Brothers Adolph (Marianne) Klepetka of Traverse City MI; Ernest (Dixie) Klepetka of Lisbon, ND; sisters in law Beverly Klepetka, Aberdeen SD; and Linda Prochnow, Casselton, ND; Brother in law Dean Prochnow of Hankinson, ND
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Klepetka; brothers Chester and Victor Klepetka; Brothers in law Wilbur Wahl, Eldon Orth, and Paul Prochnow.
Pallbearers are Chris Prochnow, Andy Prochnow, Ron Hubrig, James Aarfor, Curt Borud, Dave Tiegs, Vic Jording and Donnie Kuzel. Honorary pallbears are Jim Banish, Rocky Kath, Albert’s grandchildren and all who called him friend.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 22 at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Moline officiating and burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by the Hankinson American Legion Eberhard Post #88 and the North Dakota National Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 21 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm all at Immanuel Lutheran Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
