Charles Stanley “Chuck” Lower passed away in his home on September 27, 2011, at the age of 81.
Charles was born October 16, 1929 in Fargo, ND, the son of Russell Brantner Lower and Therese Offerdahl Lower. “Chuck” graduated from Moorhead High School and attended Moorhead State College. He served honorably in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1952 and was a member of the American Legion. He married Murell Pearl Blomberg in June of 1952 and raised four daughters.
Mr. Lower was a member of First Congregational Church in Moorhead, where he sang in the choir and served as usher. In Houston, he and Murell taught Sunday school classes at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
Charles worked parttime at Red Owl and as a meat cutter at Wenzel Meat Market; as terminal manager for Consolidated Freightways in Fargo, ND, Rockford, IL and Houston, TX; and as transportation manager at Jefferson Chemical and Texaco, retiring in 1993.
Chuck was an expert table tennis player who also enjoyed league bowling, playing poker and pinochle, watching football and Olympic competitions, and sharing good times with friends and family.
Charles is survived by his wife Murell Lower, sister Joyce Beck, daughters Sue Heinbuch (Hank), Kristi White, Jodi Cage (Jim) and Molly Brenan; and six grandchildren. The family will be holding a private memorial service in Houston, TX.
