Duane C. Sorbel
Age 74, of Golden Valley, Minnesota died peacefully on November 23, 2012, after a brief courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his son, Dale, and his parents. Duane was born May 16, 1938 to Alvin and Mabel (Engen) Sorbel in Fargo, ND growing up on a farm in Kindred, ND. Duane will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Joanne (Vangerud); his daughter, Jean (John) Bird; daughter-in-law, Lynn Sorbel; grandchildren, Brandt (Stephanie) Sorbel, Aaron Sorbel, Tricia (Nathan) Johnson, Erik, Ian, Alex, and Kierstin Bird; great-grandchildren, Addison, Elias, and Isabelle Sorbel; sisters, Carol Nesemeier, Dianne (Larry) Dahlen, along with many other relatives and friends.Duane owned his own accounting firm for 32 years and continued consulting through September, 2012. He worked alongside his son Dale for 28 of those years and developed a successful accounting practice. Duane loved to golf, fish, and spend time with his family. His family will miss his grilling expertise, dry sense of humor, and big hugs.

A celebration service of Duane's life will be held 11am Friday, November 30, 2012 at New Hope Church, 4225 Gettysburg Ave. N, New Hope, MN. Visitation precedes the service from 10-11am, also at New Hope Church.
