Verlin Elliott

Verlin was born and raised on the family farm in rural Leonard, ND. She went to school in Casselton, ND where she graduated from high school in 1945. She then attended Moorhead College in Moorhead, MN and graduated in 1947.

Verlin and Marlowe Elliott were married September 8, 1948 at Bethel Moravian Church, Leonard, ND. After their wedding they moved to Portland, OR, where they lived for 45 years. After retirement they moved back to Leonard, ND, and lived in the house Marlowe grew up in.

Verlin and Marlowe Elliott were married September 8, 1948 at Bethel Moravian Church, Leonard, ND. After their wedding they moved to Portland, OR, where they lived for 45 years. After retirement they moved back to Leonard, ND, and lived in the house Marlowe grew up in.

Before her retirement in 1988 she taught school for a few years in rural Leonard, ND. After moving to Oregon she worked at Grants Department store, Villa-Mart and Valu-Mart, which was purchased by Fred Meyer.

She is survived by her 4 children;Dian (Dresden Moss) Elliott of Madras, OR, David Elliott of San Ramon, CA, Dawn (John) Doss of Portland, OR, and Daryl Elliott of Portland, OR; 2 grandchildren, Adrienne (Erik) Peterson and Bryan (Shelby) Doss, and 4 great-grandchildren; Erik (9), Ahren (7), Malin (5) Peterson, and, Jacoby Doss (2); her brother Harold (Marlys) Heuer, sisters-in-law, Marian Bastain, Lucille Muir, Betty Schatzke; and many nieces and nephews.

Family members who are predeceased, Walter and Annie Heuer, sister Edna Schonberger and husband Harold, brothers Edwin and wife Marolyn, Howard and Wayne Heuer.

Verlin's family wants to gratefully acknowledge the staff at the Atrium at Courtyard Senior Living for their professionalism and kindness in taking care of our mother, and also her Providence Hospice team for their guidance and care.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Providence Hospice and to Bethel Moravian Church.

The funeral will be at Bethel Moravian at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with burial at Bethel Moravian Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Fredrikson-Boulger Funeral Home in Kindred from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday.
