Dennis M. Olson, 54, Lake Park, MN, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012, in Rochester, MN.

Dennis was born on May 19, 1958, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Ardean and Eleen (Rosman) Olson. While growing up he was active in 4-H and lived in rural Lake Park, MN his entire life.

Dennis M. Olson, 54, Lake Park, MN, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012, in Rochester, MN.

Dennis was born on May 19, 1958, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Ardean and Eleen (Rosman) Olson. While growing up he was active in 4-H and lived in rural Lake Park, MN his entire life.

He married Marlys Moe and they had two sons, Scott and Joey. They were later divorced. Dennis married Peggy Nybo on October 10, 1992, and along with her daughter, Katie, they made their home on Rosman Lake.

After graduating from Lake Park High School he worked for his father at Olson Construction. Later, he worked for Nelson Construction, Lake Park, for many years and Sellin Brothers in Hawley, MN, for the past 15 years. Dennis worked as a blade operator his entire life and had a reputation for being the best in the area. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was more than happy to share his talents with anyone who wanted to join him. Dennis was a caring husband, father and grandfather . He loved spending time with his grandson Nathan and taking him for rides on the tractor. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Olson, Lake Park, MN; sons Scott (Katelyn) Olson, Adrian, MN, and Joey Olson, Sioux Falls, SD; step-daughter Katie Sandberg and grandson, Nathan, Detroit Lakes, MN; mother Eleen Olson, Lake Park, MN; brothers Dean (Benita) Olson, Danny (Leslie) Olson, Dale (Elizabeth) Olson, and Darwin Olson, all of Lake Park; sister Diane (Dennis) Ellwanger, Moorhead. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ardean Olson.

Memorial Gathering: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Memorial Service: Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in Cormorant Lutheran Church, Cormorant, MN.
