Daniel Zieske, 79, Arthur, ND died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at his home surrounded by family.Daniel Wilbert Zieske was born Nov. 15, 1933 at Amenia, ND to George and Ella (Garske) Zieske. He grew up on the family farm near Amenia and graduated from Amenia High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Philippines. Upon returning to the area, he farmed and worked construction. Dan married Bonnie Grieger Sept. 13, 1968 at Sisseton, SD. They made their home in West Fargo. They lived in Edinburg, ND for 2 years before settling in Arthur where they raised four children and have resided since. He worked for Carpenters Local 1176 for 50 years. He worked at several large commercial projects in ND and MN including malting plants and western ND power houses.

Family was of utmost importance to Dan. He loved deer hunting with the boys and grandsons and attended nearly all of the grandkids school activities. He also spent much time gardening and harvesting his produce along with supervising many local construction projects for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; four children, Scott (Jodi) Zieske, Jody (Gregg Payne) Zieske, Beth (Rick) Melander, all of Arthur, Daryl (Bethany) Zieske, of Hunter, ND; 11 grandchildren, Casey, Brandi, Lexi, Daniel, Ryan, Joey, Chelsy, Jessica, Hailee, Parker and Brody; great grandson, Gage; and two sisters, Virginia Jahnke of Fargo and Georgine Randell of Diamond Bar, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence Krueger and Genevieve Sinz.
Memorial Service: Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at 1 PM at Arthur United Methodist Church.
