Jeane E. Markegard, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Bethany on 42nd Street, Fargo, ND, at the age of 87.Jeane Elizabeth McPherson, the daughter of Andrew and Priscilla (McMillan) McPherson, was born in Moorhead on February 11, 1925. She grew up on a farm near Casselton, ND, and graduated from high school in Casselton. As a young lady she worked in the FM area for Western Union, and New York Life Insurance Company.

Jeane E. Markegard, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, in Bethany on 42nd Street, Fargo, ND, at the age of 87.
Jeane Elizabeth McPherson, the daughter of Andrew and Priscilla (McMillan) McPherson, was born in Moorhead on February 11, 1925. She grew up on a farm near Casselton, ND, and graduated from high school in Casselton. As a young lady she worked in the FM area for Western Union, and New York Life Insurance Company.
On September 18, 1953, Jeane was united in marriage to Clarence A. Markegard, in Moorhead. They made their home in Moorhead. Jeane worked in the housekeeping department of MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, for 25 years, and retired in 2000.
Jeane was an excellent cook and baker, known especially for her cookies and potato salad. She enjoyed gardening and was a life-member of the Dilworth (MN) VFW Auxillary.
Jeane is survived by three children, Kathy (Clinton) Sletten, Casselton, Al Markegard, Killdeer, ND, and Susan (Rolland) Porter, Moorhead; a sister, Grace Dean, Shell Rock, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, who died in July of 2009; her parents, a son, John; a sister, Maybelle Jahnke; and two brothers, Donald and Gordon McPherson.
Visitation: Thursday, 6 PM to 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Service: Friday, December 28, 2012, at 10:30 AM in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead. Burial: Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
