Clarine A. Lian, 83, Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Monday, December 24, 2012 in HCR Manor Care, Fargo, North Dakota.

Clarine A. Dahlen, was born to Elling and Amalia (Midtmoen) Dahlen on March 16, 1929 at Dahlen, North Dakota. She grew up and attended school at Dahlen and graduated from Dahlen High School. She attended Mayville Teachers College and then taught in rural country schools. Clarine and Glenn M. Lian were united in marriage on June 3, 1951 at Dahlen. They lived in Dahlen, then moved to Mountain, ND, and Cavalier, ND prior to moving to Grand Forks in 1966. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Kelly Elementary School for many years. Clarine was employed by Goldmark Properties from 1985 until she retired in 1995.

They lived in Dahlen, then moved to Mountain, ND, and Cavalier, ND prior to moving to Grand Forks in 1966. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Kelly Elementary School for many years. Clarine was employed by Goldmark Properties from 1985 until she retired in 1995.

Clarine was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. She enjoyed making wood crafts and selling them at area craft shows. At one time she baked wedding cakes and also made floral arrangements. She was a big sports fan. She loved high school sports and attended many of her grandchildren’s games. She was also a big fan of Sioux sports.

Clarine is survived by her children, Dale (Paulette) Lian, Fargo, ND, and DeAnn Lian, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Travis (Rachel) Lian, Troy (Jodi) Lian, Kylee Renden (fiancée Brandon Fuller), and Katelyn Renden; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Arthur Lian in California.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, who died August 13, 1984, her parents, and an infant brother, Duane.

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
