Jerome O. Krogen, age 81, of Lake Park, MN, died Friday, December 28, 2012, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Jerome was born November 2, 1931, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Einar and Inga (Haugen) Krogen. He grew up and attended country school District #10 near Lake Park, MN. Jerome served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Lillian Johnson on June 22, 1957, in Park Lutheran Church, near Hawley, MN. In 1962, Jerome earned his journeyman electrician license and worked for various electrical companies throughout his career. Jerome enjoyed farming and collected International tractors.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Lillian Krogen of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Korey (Julie Mortenson) Krogen of Detroit Lakes, MN; three daughters, Kathy (Lloyd) Ness of Lake Park, MN, Kim (Darrell) Gunnarson of Hawley, MN, and Kristie Marotzke of Anoka, MN; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Krogen of Lake Park, MN; brother, Harlow (Diane) Krogen of Lake Park, MN; sisters, Ellen Levang of Ramsey, MN, Carolyn (Ron) Frogness of Cumberland, WI; sister-in-law, Fern Krogen of Detroit Lakes, MN; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; a son, Keith and a brother, Arnold Krogen.
The family of Jerome Krogen would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley and the staff at Emmanuel Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral: Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in Park Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.
