(Plath) HjortAgnes M. (Plath) Hjort, 100, of Fargo, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Bethany Retirement Living Center. She was born on November 1, 1912 in Park River, ND to George and Mabel Peck where she spent her childhood. Later, she attended college at the University of North Dakota, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1934. Following her graduation, she taught for a few years before becoming an extension agent in Grand Forks County. It was there she met Wilfred Plath, whom she married on July 3, 1940 in Park River, ND and they remained married until his death.

Agnes M. (Plath) Hjort, 100, of Fargo, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Bethany Retirement Living Center. She was born on November 1, 1912 in Park River, ND to George and Mabel Peck where she spent her childhood. Later, she attended college at the University of North Dakota, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1934. In 1991, she married Robert Hjort in Davenport, ND at Canaan Moravian Church. They were married until his death.
Agnes was very active in many organizations including the Farm Bureau, Bonanzaville, Cowbelles, and the UND Alumni Association. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served as the State and National President of the Angus Auxillary.
She was an avid stamp collector, a prolific painter, and enjoyed spending time in her garden.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marion Peterson; her daughter-in-law, Grace Plath; both husbands; sisters, Fern Hamner, Lillian Nystrom.
She is survived by her children, Ron Plath, Davenport, ND, Beryl Rourke, St. Paul, MN; stepchildren, Susan (Paul) Dumke, Bonnie (Robert) Grisso, Ronald (Bernice) Hjort, John (Rhonda) Hjort, Donald Hjort, Gwendolyn (Claude) Crane, Roberta Hjort, and Brenda (Robert) Wise; her grandchildren, Daniel Peterson, Joan Peterson, Catherine (Eric) Lee, Brandon Plath, Gavin Rourke, Tara Rourke, and Ryan Rourke; great-grandchildren, Lucas Peterson, Dexter Lee, and Maija Rourke.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Mavis Whiting Chapel in the Bethany Retirement Living Center, 201 S. University Dr, Fargo, with a visitation one hour prior.
