Morris grew up in Dunbar Township and attended elementary school at Dunbar #1 and high school in Forman. He attended Wahpeton Science College and returned to Dunbar Township to help farm. He was a member of the Navy Aircorp in St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.

He met Cecelia “Toots” Harles and was united in marriage with her in December of 1951. They lived in Bowen Township for a short time, and then moved to Dunbar Township where they farmed raised cattle, pigs and chickens. After farming, Morris worked for International Multifoods for a couple of years. He then went to work for Melroe Bobcat and remained there until retiring in 1984. In 1983, Morris and Toots moved from the farm into Forman. He entered Four Seasons Healthcare Center of Forman in April of 2009. In May of 2010, he became a resident of Elim Nursing Home in Fargo until his final hospitalization.

Morris enjoyed playing golf, pinochle and attending many athletic events at Sargent Central - - there were not too many events that Morris and Toots missed. He loved his grandsons very dearly, and also enjoyed watching them participate in their athletic events, taking them golfing and just sitting around and visiting.

Morris was a member of Forman Post #82 of the American Legion. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Forman, where he was baptized and confirmed.
