John L. Lanning, 82, of Dilworth, MN died Tuesday, January 1, 2013, in Arbor Park, Moorhead, MN under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.John Leonard Lanning was born on July 4, 1930 to Everett and Mable (Lefler) Lanning in Dawson, NE. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Navy John went to work at Minneapolis Moline and the Ford Motor Company before working for Janesville Auto Transport. He was transferred to the Dilworth, MN hub in 1961. John met Patsy “Pat” Rawson in Anoka, MN and they married on August 2, 1952.

John and Patsy were active members of the Dilworth Lutheran Church. John was also a member of the FM Flying Club. He also enjoyed fishing and spending his winters in Mesa, AZ. Most of all, he loved his family.
John is survived by his two daughters, Susan (John) Ringdahl and Carol (Roger) Meehan; two sisters, Bev (Sam) Hughes and Barb (Mark) Drabant; five grandchildren, Justin, Shane (Lissa), Kristin Olsen and Ashley and Kayla Meehan; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, his parents, brother, Florian Lanning, sister, Betty Crasper and granddaughter, Sarah Olsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
