Eddie was born June 3, 1931 at Greenway, SD to Andrew and Emelia (Zimmermann) Diede. He was raised and attended schools at Venturia, ND. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. Following military service, he moved to West Fargo and worked at Union Stockyards until retiring in 1993. He married Harriet Chase January 19, 1957 in West Fargo. Eddie was proud of his garden and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet; children, Mark, Horace, ND, Nancy (Jeff) Maag, Hillsboro, ND, Brenda (Tim) Dean, Sanborn, ND, Jim, West Fargo; grandchildren, Randi (Fiance`, Aaron Schlenker) Diede, Jacob (Lindsey) Fillbrandt, Kristy Fillbrandt, Jana Fillbrandt, Brandie (Jason) Reames, Kendra (Matt) Hartigan, seven great grandchildren; sisters, Loretta (Rudolph) Merkel, Bowdell, SD, Ella Sayler and Verna (Earl) Sjoquist both, West Fargo. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Visitation: Monday from 6 to 7:30 in West Funeral Chapel, West Fargo, with a prayer service at 7:30.
Funeral: Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11 in Community Presbyterian Church, West Fargo.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
