Donald A. Knapp, 84, Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Donald Allen Knapp was born on July 15, 1928 the son of Arthur C. and Nora (Koloen) Knapp on the family farm near Binford, ND. He attended rural school and graduated from the Binford High School in 1946. Donald farmed until entering the United States. Army in 1953. He separated from the Army in 1955. He married Jeanne M. Paczkowski on June 18, 1957 in McHenry, ND. Donald started as a rural mail carrier in October 1957 and carried out of Binford for 17 and one-half years before transferring to Aneta, ND, where he carried for 14 and one-half years. Jeanne and Donald spent 19 winters in Texas and then moved to Grand Forks. He enjoyed camping, traveling, card playing and their grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; a daughter, Donna (Donald) Schothorst, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Bill Schothorst, Grand Forks, ND and Amy Schothorst, East Grand Forks, MN; great grandchildren, Kaylee Lynn and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Knapp; a brother, Clifford Knapp; sisters, Florence Suess, Blanche Larson, Mildred Larson and Carol Knapp.

Memorial Mass: 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Family Greeting: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home - Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Family Greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.

Interment: St Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Jessie, ND.

Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
