Arlan P. Haiby
Arlan Palmer Haiby, age 80, of Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Arlan was born to Alvin and Alma (Sanden) Haiby of rural Pelican Rapids on October 25, 1932, the second of five children. In 1935, the family moved to Blackduck, MN where they farmed and logged. Arlan served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956. After being discharged he hauled gravel for the construction of I-94. In the fall of 1958, he hauled Fords as a car transport driver for K.W. McKee and retired in 1998 from Allied Auto.

Arlan was born to Alvin and Alma (Sanden) Haiby of rural Pelican Rapids on October 25, 1932, the second of five children. In 1935, the family moved to Blackduck, MN where they farmed and logged. In July 1960, he married Fern Hoeckle in Bemidji, MN. They resided in Minneapolis and raised three children. In 1968, he transferred to Fargo. They made their home in Moorhead, MN where they have resided since. Arlan cherished relationships of many friends through the years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, fishing and riding four-wheeler as well as driving through the countryside. Arlan always had joke or story to tell.
Arlan is survived by his wife of 52 years; two sons, Mark of Mesa, AZ and Monte (Randee) of Hunter, ND; daughter, Kathy of Westport, OR; one grandson, Matthew Haiby of Glendale, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Grant (Kendra) Bitker of West Fargo and Angela Bitker of Perley, MN; one brother, Everett (Reyna) of Blackduck, MN; two sisters, Joan (Bob) Gunderson of Blackduck, MN and Carol Haiby of Bemidji, MN as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arlan was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marvin (Elsie), and niece Denise Haiby and great-nieces, Julie Cloud.
Visitation: Sunday, January 13, 2012, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Monday, January 14, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., in Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Blackduck, MN.
