Elizabeth (Liz) R. Bohnenstingl, 96 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND.

Elizabeth Rose Gaukler was born on October 4, 1916 in Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Alois and Catherine (Neiber) Gaukler. She grew up in the Lidgerwood area and attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Lidgerwood. She was married on October 22, 1941 to Raymond (Ray) Bohnenstingl at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lidgerwood. In 2011, they celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Elizabeth (Liz) R. Bohnenstingl, 96 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND.

Elizabeth Rose Gaukler was born on October 4, 1916 in Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Alois and Catherine (Neiber) Gaukler. She grew up in the Lidgerwood area and attended St. Boniface Catholic School in Lidgerwood. She was married on October 22, 1941 to Raymond (Ray) Bohnenstingl at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lidgerwood. In 2011, they celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Elizabeth devoted her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, sewing, canning, visiting family and friends, doing the farm bookkeeping and shopping. She was a member of the St. Boniface Christian Mothers. She enjoyed and practiced her Catholic faith. In 2004, Elizabeth moved to St. Gerard’s Community of Care.

Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Catherine (John) Wilm and Paulette (Jim) Wilm, both of Hankinson; three sons, Gerald (Doris) Bohnenstingl, Ronald (Roxanne) Bohnenstingl, both of Lidgerwood and Robert (Patty) Bohnenstingl, Fargo, ND; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 step great-great grandson and 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Catherine Gaukler, her husband, Ray; four sisters, Mary Mattson, Kate Haase, Frances Oster, Ann Vaplon; four brothers, Joe, Alois, Andrew and Henry Gaukler.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood, ND on Saturday, January 12 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be one hour before the mass.
