Helen Siedschlag

Helen was born March 30, 1928 to Herman and Edith (Preston) Fischer in Diesem, North Dakota. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Diesem. She was united in marriage to Wendell Siedschlag on September 28, 1947 in LaMoure, ND. Helen loved music and sang with the Megatones, the Community Choir and Trinity Lutheran Church choir. She shared her faith by being involved with LWML and spent many years teaching Confirmation, Sunday school and VBS. Helen also loved quilting, spending time with her family and creating her beautiful Christmas Village.

Helen died on January 10, 2013 at her home near Berlin, surrounded by her loving family under hospice care. She was 84 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell of Berlin, ND; her sons, Dale (Kathy) and Loren of Berlin, ND; her daughter Wendy (Todd) Fisher of Fargo, ND; sisters and brothers, Arla Mae Kennedy of Fargo, ND, Lorraine (Joe) Kennedy of Fullerton, ND, Robert (Tina) Fischer of San Antonio, TX, Rodger (Marilyn) Fischer of Berlin, ND, and Karen (Michael) Efta of St. Regis, MT; grandchildren, Stephanie (Shawn) McCabe, Minnetrista, MN, Steven Siedschlag, Brandon Fisher and Allison Fisher, Fargo, ND; and four great-grandchildren Cameron and Cristian McCabe and Kelsey and Taya Siedschlag. Greeting her in heaven will be her parents; and siblings, Mamie Vernon, Arnold Fischer, Floyd Fischer, Norma Jean Janssen, and Ruth Christenson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure, ND. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, LaMoure, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
