Elaine Maurine Hansen, 81, Mandan, formerly Ellendale and Dickinson, North Dakota, died, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Visitation is scheduled for 4-7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan.

Elaine was born September 28, 1931 at Belfour, North Dakota, to Henry and Andeline (Huso) Buelow. She was raised and educated in Guthrie and Drake, North Dakota, graduating in 1949 from Drake High School. Following high school she attended a trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she earned a degree in Lab Technician. On May 26, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, she married Dick Hansen. From 1978-2006 they lived in Dickinson, North Dakota until moving to Mandan in 2006. Over the years she worked as a Lab Tech, Librarian, Insurance Agent and Medical Receptionist.

She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's, Friends of the Library, Sons of Norway, Dickinson Air Patrol, Trinity Lutheran Thursday morning Bible Study, Trinity Lutheran Choir and recently a volunteer at the ND Heritage Center and "Hardanger". She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her great-grandchildren. She liked sewing, singing in the Trinity Lutheran Choir, but mostly traveling over the years to various places with her husband.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Maureen Rule, Albuquerque, NM; sons, Rick (Mona) Hansen, Fishers, IN, Dale (Jill) Hansen, Hendersonville, TN; step-daughter, Stephanie (Hendrik) Hagen, Dresden, Germany; sister, Beverly Mickelson, Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Roger (Grace) Buelow, Richard "Otto" (Luana) Buelow, all of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are grandchildren: Derrick Hansen, Fargo; Kristin (Leo) Budija, Shakopee, MN; Janna Hansen, Jamestown, ND; Ethan Rule, Albuquerque, NM; Tom and Felix Hagen, Dresden, Germany. Step-grandchildren: Angela (Jason) Lokken, Moorhead, MN; Jesse (Estela) Lokken, Chicago, IL. Five great-grandchildren: Sailyr and Portia Hansen, Fargo; Jack and Joe Budija, Shakopee, MN, Alexander Lokken, Chicago, IL. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Buelow; grandson, Evan Rule.
