Gary J. Sandvig, 75, Fargo, ND, formerly Mayville, ND, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 in Kindred Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Mr. Sandvig was born on Jan. 23, 1937 in Enderlin to John and Agnes (Freitag) Sandvig. He grew up in Enderlin, ND and also Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1955. Gary joined the North Dakota Air National Guard and served for six years. He then worked for Hart Motor Express of Fargo for several years. Gary married Irene Soberg on Oct 29, 1960 in Fargo. They purchased Hanson Transport of Mayville in 1974 and operated the business for 30 years. After Gary semi retired, he worked for Reile's Transfer of Fargo.

Gary greatly loved spending time with all his grandchildren and traveling.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harlan and Kenneth, sister, Eloise Burtnett.

He is survived by his wife, Irene, Fargo, ND; children, Bradley (Tammy), West Fargo, ND, Brenda (Michael) Stensgard, Enderlin, ND; six grandchildren, John Sandvig, Stephanie Stensgard, Ethan Stensgard, Evan Stensgard, Thomas Sandvig and Tyler Sandvig.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 with a prayer service at 7:30 in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at 11 am in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
