Wesley “Bud” Henderson

Wesley “Bud” Henderson, retired Air Traffic Controller, died on Jan. 14, 2013. He was the son of the late Roy and Dorothy Henderson of Seattle, WA and brother of the late Doris Ronning, Portland, OR and the late James Henderson, Spokane, WA. Wesley was born in Erie, ND and attended the North Dakota State University at Fargo. He served 4 years in the US Navy in WW II and later attended the University of KY for 2 yrs. as a geology major. He was an air traffic controller for 30 yrs. and held a commercial pilot’s rating at the same time. The last 13 years of his employment were at Bluegrass Field. Other duty stations included Chicago, IL, Mansfield, Cleveland, Toledo, and Columbus, OH. Hobbies were many: flying, golf, woodworking, and lapidary arts, especially stone cutting and jewelry design. He was a member of the Bluegrass Gem and Mineral Club, Disabled American Veterans, Lakeside golf course, and 4H. Survivors include a son, Scott; dautghter-in-law, Alisa, Liberal, KS; 2 grandchildren, Tyler Henderson, Lawrence, KS and Emily Henderson, Manhattan, KS. Wesley was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lexington, KY. Visitation, Wed. 8:30-9:30 AM, Milward-Southland, Lexington, KY followed by a graveside service at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County, KY, at 10 AM. www.milwardf
