Kelly Melquist, 56, Fargo, ND, died on Monday, January 14, 2013, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Kelly was born September 7, 1956 in Fargo, ND, to Glenn and Nora (Abram) Melquist. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1974. Kelly was an arborist operating his own business, Melquist Tree Care. He loved spending time with family and friends at the lake, where he patiently taught his boys the art of fishing. He liked to hunt and fish and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Kelly was a mentor and friend to many people in his life.

He is survived by his sons, Justin (Amy) Melquist, Anacortes, WA, and Mike (Katie) Melquist, Fargo, ND; grandson, Brayden; mother, Nora Melquist, Moorhead, MN; brothers Dave (Aleda) Melquist, Moorhead, MN, Warren Melquist, Moorhead, MN, and Duane (Kay) Melquist, Audubon, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; and his brother Steven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Memorial Service: Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 1:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Friends may gather from noon until 1:00 P.M. on Sunday.
