Wilbert Hofmann, 85, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Medina, ND, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Wilbert was born November 18, 1927 in Medina, the son of Jacob P. and Mathilda (Mueller) Hofmann. He attended rural country school in Peterson Township thru 8th grade. He enlisted in the US Army on February 21, 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on January 28, 1953 and returned to North Dakota. On October 4, 1953 he married Nyra Jean Johnson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pettibone, ND. They farmed northwest of Medina until 2005 when they moved into Medina. Nyra passed away May 9, 2010. Wilbert entered Roseadele in January 2011 and lived there until his passing.

Wilbert enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, visiting, farm chores and spending time with his grandchildren.

Wilbert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dwight & Janine Hofmann, Medina, ND; two granddaughters, Pastor Trichelle and Kent Kirchenwitz, Forman, ND and Elicia (Travis) Bean, Bismarck, ND; two grandsons, Jacob (Bonnie) Hofmann and Phillip Hofmann, both of Medina; six great-granddaughters, Madison and Kylee Hofmann, Haddie and Libbie Bean and Evey and Rhyia Kirchenwitz; five brothers, Albert (Margaret) Hofmann, Medina, Ervin (Jewel) Hofmann, Glendale, AZ, Donald (Lillian) Hofmann, Medina, Edwin (Bari) Hofmann, Hemet, CA and Eugene (Jackie) Hofmann, Renton, WA; one sister, Arlene (Alvin) Schlecht, Medina; two sisters-in-law, June (Leonhard) Morlock, Jamestown and Lois Hofmann, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one sister, Vera Heupel and three brothers, Raymond, Richard and one brother in infancy.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND with Pastor Ken Kirchenwitz officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND
