Mary Lou Waters

Mary Lou passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 74.

Mary Louise Kuntz was born on August 23, 1938, the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Wolfe) Kuntz, in Hillsboro. She grew up in this area and graduated from Hillsboro High School. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Russell Waters on June 20, 1957 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They made their home on the family farm near Hillsboro where they raised their family and worked side by side. Mary Lou also worked for the Traill County Extension Office.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Russell Waters on June 20, 1957 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They made their home on the family farm near Hillsboro where they raised their family and worked side by side. Mary Lou also worked for the Traill County Extension Office.

Mary Lou loved spending time with her family – especially helping with her grandsons. She enjoyed bowling and attending Hillsboro Burro sporting events, and was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers. She was also active at the Goose River Golf Course, at her church with the Christian Mothers, the Hillsboro Senior Citizens Center, and the Bohnsack Homemakers Club. Mary Lou and Russ enjoyed for many years their winter trips to the Southwest and trips with friends to casinos.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Russell of Hillsboro; her children, Randy Waters of St. Louis, MO; Vicki (Chris) Littlejohn of rural Drayton, ND; and Doug (Jennifer) Waters of Hillsboro; seven grandsons - Scott Tweten, Mike (Kari) Tweten, Jacob Waters, Isaac Waters, Austin Littlejohn, Cameron Littlejohn, and Sam Waters; and three great grandchildren – Dylan and Kaden Tweten, and Lydia Tweten. Also surviving are her sisters – Agatha Miller of Camarillo, CA; Virginia Johnson of Lakeville, MN; Rosie Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; and Delores McCormack of Bismarck, ND; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to Dr. Gross with Roger Maris Cancer Center and to Dr. Breen with the Hillsboro Medical Center and their wonderful staffs for the loving care given to Mary Lou.

VISITATION: 5-7 PM Monday, February 4, 2013 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday

PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Monday at the church

FUNERAL MASS: 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church

BURIAL: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro
