Jessie Jenee Struble, 83, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Jessie was born on November 10, 1929, in Siren, WI to Edward and Bertha (Wilkens) Struble. She grew up and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1947 and from Moorhead State Teacher's College in 1951. She married Dean Barr on June 17, 1951 at Lake Park Lutheran Church.
She taught school for a short time in Climax and Frazee, but spent most of her teaching career in Pelican Rapids, MN before retiring in 1991. She spent most of her life on Pelican Lake, where many memories were made with family and friends that gathered there. She had a passion for family history/genealogy and of course, her grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with each and every one of them. She spent much of her retirement years attending Bible Study Fellowship at First Lutheran Church in Fargo and researching cemetery records for Cormorant Lutheran Church. Jessie also loved spending time feeding and watching "her" birds. Even in her final days, she never ceased to amaze us with her quick wit.
Jessie is survived by her children, Rob of Hudson, WI, Dave (Jenni) of Cormorant, MN, and Susan (Mark) Waltz of Hickson, ND; six grandsons, Christopher (Toby) Barr of Bloomington, MN, Matthew (Erin) Barr of Moorhead, Josh Barr of Hudson, WI, Drew Barr of Grand Forks, ND, Tyler and Michael Waltz of Hickson, ND; great-grandsons, Jack and Malachi; brothers, Sheldon (Delaine) Struble, Stanley (Pat) Struble; and sister, Jennifer Arsenault.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Edward Struble.
Jessie’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley, the caring staff of Bethany Homes, and Pastor Gary for his visits over the past few years.
Memorial Gathering: One hour before the service.
Memorial Service: Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in Cormorant Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.
