George Gianakos

George Gianakos passed away Feb. 6, 2013 at his home, surrounded by family. His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tues., Feb. 12 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, N.D.

George Gianakos was born in Milwaukee, Wis. On Sept 5, 1940 to George and Monica Gianakos. After school, George enlisted in the Marines. He married his wife Alice Berndt and started his career as a chef.

George Gianakos passed away Feb. 6, 2013 at his home, surrounded by family. His funeral will be 11 a.m. Tues., Feb. 12 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, N.D.

George Gianakos was born in Milwaukee, Wis. On Sept 5, 1940 to George and Monica Gianakos. After school, George enlisted in the Marines. He married his wife Alice Berndt and started his career as a chef.

He loved cooking and baking. He was known for his pies, homemade pickles and his pizzas. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, cards, can collecting, bingo, the Green Bay Packers and gardening.

George's chief love was for God and his family. He enjoyed his three sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and most of all his love of his life, his wife Alice. George and Alice hardly spent a moment apart in their long blissful marriage. Through good times and bad, they weathered the storms together and have set an example for their entire family to follow.

George is survived by his wife, Alice (Berndt) Gianakos; his daughter Tracy (Richard) Lowrance; sons Todd (Carrie) Gianakos, Michael Gianakos, Lewis Gianakos (Chesa Schultz); daughter in Law Tina Gianakos; grandchildren Niki (Kenny), Lindsey, Kiah, Bailey, Jason, Myra, Jordan, Adam, Alexander, Bradley, and Carsen; great grandchildren Mekenna, Brayden, and Kenny; Siblings Ted (Girty) Gianakos, Rose Marie (David) Michael, Mary (Jim) Painter, Christine (Bob) Isham and Marylin Zelimski.

George was preceded in death by his parent George (Monica Ginankos, sister Delores Senpanski, brother Tom Gianakos, nephew Robbie Kuruc and nice Tammy Hoffland.

Special thanks to Dr. Rohla for many years of care, Dr. Liecth, Dr. Jesen, all nurses and staff at Roger Maris Cancer Center and The Hospice of the Red River Valley.
